    Visits are typically 30-60 minutes- not rushed 5-7 minutes appointments.

  • No. Direct Primary Care is not the same as Concierge Medicine. At Walnut Health Direct Primary Care, patients pay a straightforward monthly fee that covers most primary care services with no co-pays or surprise bills. Concierge practice often charge higher fees, have co-pays, and may still bill insurance. In contrast, DPC focuses on affordability, transparency, and giving patients more time and direct access to their physician - without the complexity of traditional or concierge models.

  • Yes, he can refer you to specialists. If you have insurance and wish to use that at the specialist’s office, be mindful that you might need a prior authorization.

  • If you are hospitalized, an admitting doctor or hospitalist will care for your during your stay in the hospital. Dr. Nguyen does not do hospital work, but will follow up with you after your hospitalization.

  • We have no contract. We are strictly a month to month membership practice. We don't want you to have to stay if you don't like it here.

  • NOT Covered: Hospitalizations, emergency room visits, gynecology, obstetrics, surgeries, and specialist consultations are not covered. Cost of labs, medications, and radiologic studies are also NOT included.

    Our practice also does NOT prescribe chronic benzodiazepines, opioids, or ADHD medications, though we are happy to facilitate referrals to the appropriate specialists as needed.

  • It not required to have insurance to joint Walnut Health DPC.

    However, it is strongly recommended to have some form of insurance (HealthShare, High Deductible Health Plan or catastrophic insurance,…etc) for big, unexpected moments - hospitalizations, major surgeries, and catastrophic events - while we take care your everyday healthcare needs.

  • Beginning in 2026, qualifying DPC memberships may be paid with HSA funds under updated federal rules. Health FSA reimbursement may also be available depending on your specific plan. We recommend confirming benefits with. your plan administrator.
